The presence of phosphorus and nitrogen in high proportions can negatively affect the quality of any ecosystem. To date, a bibliometric study of phosphorus and nitrogen in our Ecuadorian aquatic ecosystems has not been published. Analyze and present bibliometric markers of the scientific production of phosphorus and nitrogen in Ecuadorian aquatic ecosystems. For data collection, the Scopus database was used. A total of 823 documents were found, of which only 49 were validated. Publications increased with difficulty starting in 2013 and reached a maximum of 16 in 2018. Of these, rivers were the most studied ecosystems throughout of the period, most of the publications were in the English language and the journal with the most was Water. Most of the articles were published in specialized biology, limnology, water, and hydrobiology journals. It is recommended to carry out this study in other databases.
