Analysis of institutional problems that influence the teaching of English language at Unidad Educativa Península de Santa Elena and Colegio Militar Eugenio Espejo

This study established as its main objective to analyze the institutional problems related to infrastructure, educational policies and academic organization in the learning of the English language by students from Unidad Educativa Peninsula de Santa Elena and Unidad Educativa Eugenio Espejo, school year 2017 – 2018. In order to carry out this exploratory project and field research with a quantitative, qualitative and mixed approach was applied. The data collection instruments used were the observations, surveys and interviews, during the period of application of these instruments it was possible to observe the infrastructure of the institutions, open and recreational spaces, classrooms, area for sports, evacuation routes, lighting, among others. In addition, it was determined that there is an inadequate implementation of educational policies and academic organization which have influenced the teaching-learning process of the English language not to develop properly; this is related to insufficient didactic materials, besides not having proper connectivity which is fundamental for the management and use of technological resources. The importance of this diagnosis relies fundamentally in the need to improve the teaching-learning process in the schools chosen for this research. It is expected that this diagnosis can be a guiding tool that contributes to the improvement of the educational system, especially in the teaching of the English language.
