Abstract

This work projects the reality faced by people with visual disabilities in the practice of aquatic activities, The inclusion of these people in the sports field remains an obstacle due to the lack of promotion of these activities by competent sports institutions. This research aims to teach swimming to people with visual disabilities who have never had the opportunity to practice this sport, with the purpose of knowing the difficulties presented by the blind people who attend the Dr. Oswaldo Loor Foundation. Sample calculation is not applied because the total population was 11 people, the instrument used to obtain information was a diagnostic test, In addition, an exploratory and field research was applied, a methodological strategy was subsequently implemented to teach swimming, based on bibliography related to our research, At the time of its execution, class plans and observation tests were prepared, fulfilling the objective set in the teaching stages. The results showed that the hypothesis was fulfilled, getting the students to learn to swim; making it clear that, despite their visual impairment, they developed different skills required in this sport.
