Abstract

The national educational context demands professionals with capabilities and skills for working with the student population at different levels of education, so the research aimed at determining the importance of the career of Basic Education at the State University of Bolívar. Observational, prospective, and retrospective methods were used. There is a high unmet demand at the national level for undergraduates who claim to study this career; 80% of graduates hold work positions as teachers and managers of educational institutions; the employability rate is high for graduates, in most cases from 3 to 4 professionals per staff. The PESTEL analysis allowed us to identify the threats and opportunities around the career in Basic Education, allowing us to determine where to improve and guide the decisions that should be taken for the future of the career.
