Abstract

Vulnerability can be understood as that set of conditions from which a community is or remains exposed to the danger of being affected by a threat, be it natural, anthropic or socio-natural, so it is essential for comprehensive management of the risk, measure it mathematically. The main objective of the study is to formulate a mathematical equation, composed of five socioeconomic dimensions that can measure the vulnerability of this type at the parish levels of the Santa Elena. The multivariate statistical methodology applied was that of principal components. Five-dimensional data was used, from which 15 representative socioeconomic indicators of the rural parishes of the canton were derived for the period 2020. The main result was a significant multivariate equation, with a high joint correlation between its variables and a reduction of 15 to 5 dimensions that explain a greater socioeconomic vulnerability of the parish territories made up of: Colonche, Julio Moreno and Manglaralto.
