Innovación abierta en PyME: revisión sistemática de contexto, redes y políticas públicas

La investigación sobre innovación abierta en pymes se ha expandido significativamente en la última década; sin embargo, el campo carece de una síntesis integrada y fundamentada en la teoría que consolide la evidencia empírica reciente, tiene por objetivo integrar los hallazgos e identificar subcategorías temáticas dominantes que orienten futuras líneas de investigación. Se aplica una revisión sistemática de la literatura conforme al protocolo PRISMA con publicaciones recopiladas de Scopus y WoS entre 2021 y 2025, se obtuvo 59 artículos revisado por pares desde un corpus inicial de 334. Los resultados revelan que la investigación empírica sobre innovación abierta en pymes se basa predominantemente en datos longitudinales y se concentra geográficamente en Europa, con contribuciones de Asia, particularmente China e India, mientras que los estudios de América, especialmente Latinoamérica, son escasos. La síntesis indica que la innovación abierta mejora el rendimiento general en las pymes, su impacto es más pronunciado en actividades de comercialización y orientadas al mercado que en los procesos iniciales de I+D (Investigación y Desarrollo). El estudio concluye que la innovación abierta debe entenderse como un fenómeno dependiente del contexto y condicionado por las políticas. En el que destaca la necesidad de políticas públicas integrales y ecosistemas colaborativos que fortalezcan la capacidad de las pymes para participar estratégicamente en redes de innovación abierta.
