Abstract

The morphological similarities and differences among the genera of this family are poorly understood. The objective of this work was to carry out a comparative analysis of the floral characters of the 11 genera of Capparaceae in the country, through the compilation of available scientific literature and a phenetic and cluster analysis with the most relevant characteristics. Based on observations of botanical collections from the GUAY herbarium, images of living material, the floral characteristics, the distribution pattern at the national level and the flowering record were described. Phenetic analysis showed maximum values between genera that shared similarities in characters such as pubescence, calyx aestivation, corolla, and the presence of hypanthium. Cluster analysis generated two cladograms that represent the formation of clades supported by the affinity of their floral morphological characters, which coincide with other works carried out with molecular analysis.
