Abstract

Gender discrimination or inequality is a phenomenon present in several dimensions, as regards the economic point of view, the wage gap between men and women has become the turning point of the analysis, especially because the income they generate is uneven. The study starts from a descriptive analysis of the data to show the existing inequality between the salary received both as men and women in the Ecuadorian labor market in the years 2007 to 2019; the study of the measures and actions taken by developed economies as well as the situation in Latin America is proposed to delve into the analysis of internal factors in Ecuador.  The study has achieved show that the gender pay gap has been reduced by around 46% with a difference in USD of 52 on average. Despite the obvious reduction, it continues perceiving the difference, therefore, proposals have also been generated here to lower the threshold for income  inequality in the labor market by gender.
