Incidence of the crisis due to COVID 19 in the increase in the price of the products that make up the basic food basket

In the last months of 2019 the world was put on alert in the presence of a new virus, health emergencies were declared in all countries and with the economic consequences of the decisions taken. In Ecuador, the month with the greatest impact of the pandemic was April, the economic effect was not only felt with the loss of employment of many people and the decrease in economic activities, but, as in several countries of the world, there has been a rise in prices. The objective of this work is: To determine the incidence of the Covid-19 crisis in the increase in the price of the products that make up the basic food basket of Ecuador. The research methodology is descriptive and documentary. Due to speculation and restrictions, the prices of the items that make up the basic basket have increased their prices, making it impossible for the population that is most affected by the pandemic to acquire them, due to unemployment, which has as a consequence a lack of income. in families.
